Who is responsible

Alegria Media and Consulting Ltd. ("we") publishes Best IAM Tools at bestiamtools.com and is responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us only through the contact form.

The short version

This is a reading site. There are no user accounts, no payments, no comments, no analytics and no advertising. The stack builder and side-by-side tools work without any personal data. We receive personal data only when you send us a message, and our host logs basic technical data when you visit.

What we collect

Messages you send. The contact form asks for your name, email address, a topic and your message. For corrections it also accepts an optional link to the source. If you choose the copyright notice topic, it also asks for a description of the copyrighted work, the address of the material on this site, two statements you confirm by ticking boxes, and your full name as an electronic signature. A hidden field that people never see is used to filter automated spam.

Technical data logged by the host. When your browser requests a page, the hosting provider automatically records data such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix faults.

Data kept in your browser. The stack builder and side-by-side tools keep your choices in the page address (for example ?v= on the side-by-side page) and in the page's memory while it is open. The column's tag filter is kept in memory only. The site does not use cookies, localStorage or sessionStorage.

Google Fonts. The site's typefaces load from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When they load, Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of the request. This is the only request to a third party that the site makes. Links to vendor and standards pages only contact those sites if you follow them.

Why we use it and our legal basis

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR we rely on our legitimate interests in running and securing the site and in reading and answering the messages people send us. Where a law requires consent for a particular use, we ask for it, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Who receives it

Hosting and infrastructure providers that run the site for us, the service that delivers contact form messages to us once it is connected, and public authorities where the law requires disclosure. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside the country where you live. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. We are based in Israel, which is covered by an adequacy decision of the European Commission.

How long we keep it

We keep contact messages for as long as we need them to deal with the request, and then delete them. Server logs are kept by the host for a limited period that the host sets.

Your rights

EU and UK. You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of use, and a copy in a portable format; you can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent you gave. You can also complain to your data protection supervisory authority.

California. Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA you can ask to know what we hold about you, to delete it and to correct it, and you can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, which we do not do. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Israel. You have the rights given by the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, including the right to review and ask us to correct your data.

To use any of these rights, send a message through the contact form with the topic "Privacy request". We may ask for information to confirm the request is yours.

Children

The site is written for people who work in IT and security and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

If what the site does with data changes, we will update this page and its "Last updated" date. See also the cookie policy.
